Our home isn’t confined to bricks and mortar; it’s found on the open road, in our home on the road!
As avid travellers and adventure seekers, we’ve embrace the nomadic lifestyle, and anywhere we stop becomes our home. Like any home, we strive to make our ‘home on the road’ as comfortable as possible, ensuring that we have the creature comforts while out exploring Australia.
Our caravan – MDC XT-12 hybrid caravan
In December 2015, we purchased a brand-new MDC XT-12 hybrid off-road caravan.
Thus far, it has treated us well. We are always the talk of the campsite as people never believe us when we tell them the van is 10 years old. Our van neighbours always want to take a peek inside our compact home on wheels.
We have carried out some minor modifications to make our lives easier:
- Rearranged the plumbing and removed the internal sink
- New interior bench tops
- Created more control over the water storage
- Fabricated a new bathroom flood cavity
- Built a woodbox and a jerry can holder
- Tidied up the wiring
Our Vehicle:
After more than 100,000 kilometres of adventures, in 2022, we sold our beloved 2011 Holden Colorado LXR 4WD and purchased a 2022 Isuzu D-MAX dual-cab. We have kitted it out for touring with the following:
- HiCat canopy
- Oztech suspension
- ARB bar work
- Narva driving lights
- Custom 12 volt setup
Our Old Camper Trailer:
SOLD to wonderful new owners! Happy Travels!
We previously travelled in a camper that we purchased at the 2012 Melbourne Camping Show in March. After much deliberation, we finally decided on an MDC Off-Road Camper manufactured in Brisbane, QLD. Our Camper is named Cooper after one of our favourite destinations, Cooper Creek.
