Exploring the Sunny South Coast

Even though we have been down south for almost six years we haven’t explored the south coast as much as we’d like. On the Australia Day long weekend, we seized the opportunity road trip to Mollymook and back through Tuross Head, Potato Point, and the old gold mining town of Central Tilba, where we had a delicious lunch at the iconic Dromedary Hotel.

As Aussies, there’s nothing quite like spending Australia Day at the beach. This year, we made the most of the long weekend in Mollymook. While the weather wasn’t perfect, Mollymook offered a great beach getaway and many opportunities to explore. So, what’s your favourite for the long weekend – beachside vibes or bushland adventures?

Nestled in the picturesque Shoalhaven region, Mollymook NSW is a great beachside village and holiday destination. With its stunning beaches and relaxed dining scene, this coastal town has something for everyone. Just a stone’s throw away from Ulladulla, Mollymook boasts world-class surf beaches, great local eateries, and a really good golf course – apparently!

This trip we left the caravan at home and booked an Airbnb on the beach. It was in an excellent location with brilliant ocean views and convenient access to the beach and eating out options.

A definite place to visit is Cupitt’s Estate. Located on a 75-hectare farm known as Washburton, the family-run business includes a winery, brewery, and function venue. Founded by Rosie and Griff Cupitt, the estate follows sustainable practices and uses locally sourced ingredients, offering delicious food with brilliant views.

Mollymook’s main beach has crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and surfing. Whether you’re looking for beachside relaxation or coastal adventure, the south coast of NSW, especially Mollymook, promises an unforgettable holiday or mini-break.
